For over 20 years, our Kumu and teachers have nurtured hula and a passion for the culture in students of all levels. With an offering of regular scheduled classes from September to June, cultural & dance workshops with Kumu from all over the world, and community shows/events, for 2-year-olds to 70+ years old, for folks of every background, creed, and gender identity, there is a space for everyone.

Keiki (Kids 2-5)
Our Keiki classes are open to dancers 2-4 yrs; no dance experience necessary. Haumana (students) should expect to learn a number of simple dances, along with basic movements, language, music & implements, arts/crafts, and games in Hula, Tahitian & Maori. Guardians are welcome to join the class if helpful to their keiki. This class runs for 45 mins every week.
Kamali’i (Kids 5-8)
Our Kamaliʻi classes are open to dancers 5-8 yrs; no dance experience necessary. Haumana (students) should expect to learn a number of challenging Hula, Tahitian and Maori dances geared to the overall level of the class. Along with their dances, haumana will also learn Hula & Tahitian basics, basic language, music & implements, and be introduced to basic oli (chants) and hālau (school) protocols. This class runs for 45 mins every week.
ʻŌpio (Pre-Teens 8-12)
Our ʻŌpio classes are open to dancers 8-12yrs; no dance experience necessary. Haumana (students) should expect to learn a number of challenging Hula, Tahitian and Maori dances geared to the overall level of the class. Along with their dances, haumana will also learn Hula & Tahitian basics, basic language, oli (chants), some hālau (school) protocols, and to dance with implements. This class moves at a moderately physical pace and runs for 1 hour every week.
Kane (Mens) Hula
Our Kane classes explore traditional men’s choreography. These classes are open to dancers 15 yrs+. Haumana (students) should expect to learn a number of challenging dances geared to the level of the overall class (intermediate). Along with their dances, haumana will also learn all hula basics with some direction, basic oli (chanting), basic hālau (school) protocols, and be introduced to dancing with implements. This class moves at a moderately physical pace and runs for 1.5 hours every 2 weeks.
Moderate Adult Tahitian
Our moderate adult Tahitian class is open to dancers 18 yrs+. Māhiti (students) should expect to learn a number of challenging, fun and cheeky Tahitian dances (including ori and aparima) geared to the overall level of the class (intermediate). Along with their dances, māhiti will also learn all Tahitian basics and techniques. This class moves at a moderately physical pace and runs for 1 hour every 2 weeks.
Intermediate/Advanced Hula
Our intermediate/advanced Hula classes are open to adult dancers with previous Hula dance experience. Haumana (students) should expect to learn a number of challenging dances geared to the overall level of the class (intermediate/advanced). Along with their dances, haumana will also learn all Hula basics with advanced direction/staging, oli (chants), all hālau (school) protocols, and to dance with implements. Classes are available at a moderate and vigorous physical pace and run for 1.5 hours every week.
Beginner Polynesian Dance
Our 4-6 week Polynesian intro sessions are open to dancers 15 yrs+; no dance experience necessary. Haumana (students) should expect to learn 1 Hula, Tahitian or Maori dance geared to the overall level of the class (beginner). Along with their dance, haumana will learn some Hula and Tahitian basics and techniques, relevant cultural dance history, and be introduced to some language. This class moves at a light/moderate physical pace.
Beginner/Intermediate Tahitian
Our beginner/intermediate Tahitian class is open to dancers 15 yrs+; no dance experience necessary. Māhiti (students) should expect to learn a number of challenging, fast-tempo ori dances geared to the overall level of the class (beginner/intermediate). Along with their dances, māhiti will also learn some Tahitian basics, techniques, and high-energy warm-ups. This class moves at a moderate/vigorous physical pace and runs for 1 hour every week.
Intermediate Adult Hula
Our intermediate Hula classes are open to dancers 15 yrs+ with some previous Hula dance experience. Haumana (students) should expect to learn a number of challenging dances geared to the overall level of the class (intermediate). Along with their dances, haumana will also learn all Hula basics with some direction, basic oli (chants), some hālau (school) protocols, and be introduced to dancing with implements. These classes move at a moderately physical pace and run for 1-1.5 hours every week.
Advanced Adult Tahitian
Our Advanced Adult Tahitian class is open to dancers 15 yrs+ with previous Tahitian dance experience. Māhiti (students) should expect to learn a high volume of challenging dances geared to the overall level of the class (advanced). Along with their dances, māhiti will learn all Tahitian basics with advanced direction/staging, techniques, and high-energy warm-ups. This class moves at a vigorous physical pace and runs for 1.5 hours every week.
